There are some great bushwalks on Bribie Island, and with wildlife to spot from kangaroos, wallabies, emus and dingoes, to bats and 350 species of birds, this is a great place to get out and discover the wonder of nature. 

Explore Bribie’s Beaches - Bribie Island is home to both surf and still water beaches. On the Pumicestone Passage side of the island, enjoy calm waters to stand up paddle board or kayak. Find 4WD tracks, waves and a patrolled surf beach on the ocean-facing side.

The Bribie Island Seaside Museum

In the heart of Bongaree and close to your Bribie Island accommodation. The seaside Museum is a must-see for visitors. Run by Moreton Bay Regional Council. the purpose-built museum is contemporary in design and has views to the parkland and beach. The main reception has a wonderful shop which sells some interesting Bribie Island souvenirs.

Learn about Bribie Island’s rich military history during WWII and discover the birthplace of modern seaside tourism. Entry is free, and the museum is open Tues – Fri 10am – 4pm, Sat & Sun 10am – 3pm.

Abbey Museum

For a unique and engaging experience close to Bribie Island, the Abbey Museum is a treasure house of world history. There are many amazing artefacts on display from the Medieval Saxon and Norman invaders to the golden age of Europe’s Renaissance. You can also see the beautiful 13th Century-stained glass in the nearby Abbey Church and a world-renowned Medieval glass collection.



Aquatic Activities

Bribie Island is a haven for windsurfing or catamaran sailing with both the Pumicestone Passage and the open waters off Woorim Beach. Woorim is Brisbane's closest patrolled surf beach, the venue for regular surf carnivals and a popular spot for swimmers and board riders. Water skiing and Jet skiing are other popular pastimes in the calmer waters of the Passage with other aquatic activities such as kayaking, BBQ Boats, and other boats available for hire.
